Zagreb’s signature urban idea
The Green Horseshoe is not one park. It is a sequence of squares and gardens that bends through Lower Town, linking culture, science and public life. The route is flat, elegant and especially useful from the Westin, Sheraton or Esplanade side of the centre.
Read Zagreb by the gaps between its buildings: lawns, promenades, café tables and the blue tram passing at the edge.

If you have genuine time
Mirogoj is both Zagreb’s main cemetery and one of its most atmospheric architectural landscapes: arcades, domes, trees and memorial art. It is outside the central walking circuit, so allow for transport and visit with the calm the place deserves.
